Despite his skepticism, Davis acknowledges the moral complexities at play. ‘It’s a weird one because they’re heavily religious and speak about things being haram, but then they’re doing PEDs,’ he notes, highlighting the apparent contradiction. Yet, he remains focused on his mission: to punish Nurmagomedov in the ring. ‘I need to be the one that punishes him,’ Davis declares, determined to prove that a clean athlete can triumph over controversy.
Heading into their Saturday showdown in Dubai, Davis is under no illusions about Nurmagomedov’s skills. ‘He’s a smart fighter, very clever, very good at nicking rounds,’ he admits.
