Lux Turner's Peaceful Lead: A Step Towards Supercross Glory (2026)

Lux Turner on Leading Glendale SX Heat: "It felt very peaceful in the lead and I really liked it" - Racer X

Glendale, AZ – The Glendale Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship marked a significant milestone for Lux Turner. The rider for Toyota Redlands BarX Yamaha made a strong impression by securing the holeshot and taking an early lead over his teammate Parker Ross in the first 250SX heat race of the evening. However, the race took a turn when Ross unfortunately crashed just before the finish line, prompting the green flag to wave.

Turner showcased impressive riding skills as he maintained the lead for the first six laps. Despite being overtaken by both Maximus Vohland and Levi Kitchen, he ultimately secured a commendable third place in the eight-lap race. This experience was particularly meaningful as it was Turner's first time leading laps in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series. Following closely behind him was second-year professional Avery Long, who delivered a strong performance to finish fourth in the heat.

In the main event, Turner faced a challenging start, positioning himself 17th at the holeshot line and even dropping to 19th during the opening lap. Nevertheless, he persevered and managed to climb back to finish in 11th place. This result is seen as a positive step forward for the 20-year-old athlete, especially considering that he is only in his third year of competing in the 250SX class. It's important to note that Turner had previously suffered a wrist injury while leading the Australian Boost Mobile AusX Supercross Championship, which limited his participation in the early rounds of the 2026 season. He has shown remarkable determination in his recovery and return to competitive form.

In a post-race statement shared by the team, Turner expressed his thoughts:

"It definitely felt good to get a holeshot and lead some laps in the Heat Race. It’s funny, it felt very peaceful in the lead and I really liked it. I feel like that’s where I belong, so I’m going to keep working to put myself in good positions. Going into the Main Event, I really wanted to get another good start, but ended up getting shuffled back to almost dead last and battled back for 11th. I was happy with my charge throughout the whole race. I’m getting stronger and feel like we made massive improvements this weekend that can carry on each week."

He expanded on his feelings in an Instagram post:

"Glendale📈 p11 O/A

Super pumped to get that hole shot in the heat race and lead some laps; it definitely got tight towards the end, but that was fun, and I will keep getting stronger. It’s frustrating to have a bad start in the main—I know I can run up front and I want to. I’m pleased with my progress throughout the entire moto. This weekend was a great step forward, and I want to thank everyone in my corner for believing in me—we will continue to build!

Thank you to @barxyamaha for the support and all the hard work!"

Before this event, Turner made a notable impact in the five-round Boost Mobile Australian Supercross Championship, but a serious crash during qualifying at the AUS-X Open hindered his championship aspirations. He suffered a fractured right wrist and a sprained left wrist, sidelining him for a significant period and limiting his time on the bike ahead of Anaheim 1. Previously, he spent two solid years with the AEO Powersports KTM Racing team before transitioning to BarX following the Monster Energy SMX World Championship Playoffs.

On the other hand, Ross managed to recover from his heat race crash, finishing in eighth place to secure a direct qualification into the main event. In the main, he started within the top ten and even reached seventh at one point. Unfortunately, he fell in the sandy turn before the finish, which cost him a few positions, concluding the race in tenth, just one spot ahead of Turner. Long, riding for AEO Powersports KTM, crossed the finish line in ninth place during the main event, marking his second ninth-place finish this season.

Ross reflected on his performance in the post-race BarX release:

"It was a really good night in Glendale. I was really happy with my speed and bike all day. A mistake cost me a good finish in the Heat Race, but I was really pleased to bounce back to eighth. Then I made another mistake in the Main Event and went down, but I still managed to fight back to 10th. It was frustrating to make those mistakes, but I will learn from them and continue to improve."

In 2025, with AEO Powersports KTM, Lux Turner enjoyed a breakout season during just his second year as a professional, achieving a top ten finish in Monster Energy AMA Supercross in Texas and contending within the top ten throughout the AMA Pro Motocross Championship before finishing eighth overall at the SMX Final.
