By the glory of Terra, these miniatures are truly remarkable! A plethora of new models for Legio Custodes players to engage in intense battles with the Warmaster. The Emperor's personal protectors have never looked more impressive.
The upcoming Legio Custodes release is led by the formidable Legio Custodes Battle Group box, essentially a small army in its own right, offering an ideal starting point for a new Custodes force. Let's delve into the details:
The new Custodian Guard embodies the quintessential image of the beloved Custodians: tall guardian spears, high-plumed helmets, and radiant golden armor. The kit provides options for bare heads and command staff, including a vexilla. Warhammer 40,000 enthusiasts will appreciate how these miniatures can also represent the Custodian Guard in an Adeptus Custodians army...
The Custodian Sentinels bear a resemblance to the Guard, but instead of spears, they wield sentinel warblades and praesidium shields. They offer similar customization options, and yes, they would also make excellent additions as Custodian Guard in a Warhammer 40,000 Adeptus Custodes force.
The weapons and wargear of the Legio Custodes are the epitome of excellence within the Imperium, and the same can be said for their armored vehicles. The Caladius Annihilator Grav-tank stands as one of the most formidable armored units of its size in the Age of Darkness.
Equipped with a versatile Arachnus blaze carronade, capable of piercing tank hulls or decimating heavy infantry, it boasts hull-mounted weapons, including twin lastrum bolt cannons or a novel gun-type: the twin neutronium cascade projector. Think of it as a main battle tank, but even more powerful.
The Legio Custodes utilizes Dreadnoughts to enable gravely wounded warriors to continue fighting. The upcoming Custodes Battle Group includes a spectacular new plastic Contemptor kit. This versatile model can be assembled as either a Contemptor-Achillus (with its signature Achillus dreadspear) or a Contemptor-Galatus (with a Galatus warblade and praesidium shield).
This offers two distinct Dreadnought types with unique battlefield roles: the Contemptor-Achillus deals massive Damage 3 with its spear, rendering enemy armor useless, while the Contemptor-Galatus excels at crowd control with its flamer, warblade, and enhanced durability from the shield. The best feature? Its poseability, allowing for dynamic and impressive poses.
All Custodians are exceptional warriors, but the most revered among them are the Shield Captains. These warriors stand alongside the Imperium's greatest fighters, and the new Shield Captain miniature is a testament to this status, showcasing an incredible level of detail!
If you watched the video, you might have caught a glimpse of other Legio Custodes kits set for release: The Venatari, with their distinctive Aquila silhouettes, swoop into battle to expose enemy weaknesses, utilizing kinetic destroyers, bucklers, or Verutum lances. These fast-moving, powerful warriors compensate for their lighter armor with the brute force of their weapons.
The Custodes are also acquiring a second Caladius Grav-tank, equipped with a twin Iliastus accelerator cannon, capable of unleashing six Strength 8 shots per turn, easily turning medium and light vehicles into rubble or decimating heavy infantry.
When transporting your Custodians to the heart of the battle, consider the Legio Custodes Coronus Grav Carrier, a heavily armored, swift vehicle capable of Deepstrike, befitting the Emperor's protectors. It can accommodate seven standard Custodians or one squad and a character, offering formidable fire support with its twin Arachnus blaze cannons or lastrum bolt cannons.
Where can you find the lore and rules for these models and more? Look no further than Liber Custodes, the essential guide for using the Legio Custodes in your games. It provides detailed information about the Custodians, the Sisters of Silence, and an addendum covering the Agents of the Divisio Assassinorum, forces operating outside the Legio Custodes structure, which can be used as allies or as a standalone force.
You'll also find the rules for the two most renowned Emperor's Talons, Captain-General Constantin Valdor and Knight-Commander of the Silent Sisterhood, Jenetia Krole.
