Scarlett Johansson in The Batman Part II? What We Know and What It Could Mean (2026)

Could we soon see Scarlett Johansson stepping into a significant role in 'The Batman Part II'? As excitement builds around this upcoming sequel, speculation is swirling about the potential casting of the former Avenger.

Renowned industry insider Jeff Sneider has suggested that Johansson may be cast as Gilda Gold, who is famously known as the future wife of Harvey Dent, also known as Two-Face. According to Sneider, a reliable source from within an agency has revealed that the film will introduce three major new characters: Gilda, Harvey Dent, and Dent’s abusive father, Christopher. It appears that the filmmakers are seeking actors in their 40s for the roles of Gilda and Harvey, which aligns perfectly since Johansson celebrated her 41st birthday last November. Additionally, a man in his 60s is expected to portray the character of Christopher Dent.

As of now, Warner Bros. has yet to confirm or announce any actors for the roles of Harvey Dent or his father. Recently, rumors surfaced suggesting that Brad Pitt might take on the role of Christopher Dent, but The Hollywood Reporter has since dispelled those claims. Instead, Sneider clarified that while director Matt Reeves did express interest in reaching out to Pitt, the actor is currently tied up with another project, leaving his involvement unlikely.

Gilda Gold first appeared in Detective Comics #66 back in 1942, created by the legendary duo Bill Finger and Bob Kane. Initially introduced as Harvey’s fiancée, their love story evolves dramatically after Harvey becomes disfigured and transforms into the notorious villain Two-Face. Despite his dark turn, their relationship persists; in fact, they marry when Harvey pledges to change his life for the better. An interesting twist in Gilda's character arc occurs in the 1996 comic 'Batman: The Long Halloween,' where she adopts the persona of Holiday, a serial killer targeting Gotham’s crime families throughout various holidays.

While Gilda has been largely absent from the comics following the New 52 reboot, recent media adaptations have reignited interest in her character. Warner Bros. produced an animated version of 'The Long Halloween,' and the comic series even received a sequel a few years ago. Given that the first installment of 'The Batman' already incorporated elements from 'The Long Halloween,' it would not be surprising if the sequel continues in this vein.

At this point, all of this remains speculative, so fans will have to look forward to further announcements regarding Scarlett Johansson’s potential involvement in 'The Batman Part II,' which is set to premiere on October 1, 2027.
