Get ready for a colorful celebration as Weezer marks its 34th anniversary with a unique twist! The iconic band is re-releasing all their colored albums on vinyl, but there's a catch - it's not just a regular vinyl collection. Prepare to unleash your inner artist because this set comes with a coloring book twist!
The 6xLP collection includes their iconic debut, 'The Blue Album,' along with 'The Green Album,' 'The Red Album,' 'The White Album,' 'The Black Album,' and 'The Teal Album.' But here's where it gets interesting: the entire package doubles as a coloring book!
With 72 original illustrations by Alec Longstreth and six colored markers, you can transform your vinyl collection into a work of art. And for the ultimate Weezer fan, a deluxe box set limited to only 100 copies is available, featuring a Weezer backpack and a signed lithograph.
Pre-orders are now open, so you can secure your piece of Weezer history. The band's webstore will begin shipping US orders on April 10 and EU/UK orders on June 26.
In an Instagram post, the Los Angeles band shared their excitement: "For this momentous Weezerversary, we're bringing all the colored albums together for the first time. We present the Weezer Coloring Book Vinyl Box Set - a unique collection of Blue, Green, Red, White, Black, and Teal albums, all in one place."
But here's a fun fact: this isn't the only exciting news from Weezer. Earlier this month, the band announced the release of a newly discovered album, '1192,' featuring early demos and rarities. This album, recorded during their formative years in 1992, will be released on Record Store Day 2026.
'1192' promises to showcase early versions of Weezer classics like 'Say It Ain't So' and 'Undone (The Sweater Song).' With the help of founding bassist Matt Sharp as producer and Joe Chicarrelli on mixing, the record has been meticulously crafted from tape to vinyl, preserving its analog charm.
Three thousand copies of '1192' will be available for purchase on April 18, so mark your calendars!
Weezer's journey has been an inspiring one, as frontman Rivers Cuomo reminisced in a 2024 interview with NME. He shared insights into the making of their debut album, 'The Blue Album,' and the close-knit community they fostered during those early days in Los Angeles.
"We were a tight-knit group, not just the band members but a whole crew of young men, constantly hanging out, discussing music and style. With no distractions like TV or relationships, we were fully immersed in our craft," Cuomo reflected.
And this is the part most people miss: when 'The Blue Album' was released, Cuomo believed it was the greatest album ever. He assumed others would feel the same, and in many ways, he was right.
